Thysse was founded in 1941 by John Thysse. From a small garage and a single letterpress in Madison, WI, to Thysse’s current 95,000 sq ft facility, the team and scope of services offered have grown well beyond print. With over 100 dedicated creatives, craftsmen and experts, today Thysse offers a broad variety of brand and marketing solutions backed by the core founding principal— we deliver exceptional outcomes. The growth comes under the leadership of third-generation owner and CEO, Jason Thysse. His ability to anticipate evolving client needs and position the company to meet them with thoughtful investment in the best people and technology, enabling Thysse to consistently offer more value.

1941

The Garage

Armed with one second-hand press, John Thysse began a small print shop out of a garage on Buell Street on Madison’s East side.

1945

Our small operation quickly gained community recognition and outgrew the garage so Thysse made our first move to Winnebago Street.

The business thrived on it’s loyal local customer base and transitioned from John Thysse to his son, Jay.

2009

G3: Jason Takes the Helm

Following in his father’s and grandfather’s footsteps, Jason purchased the business in 2009.

2012

With an eye toward innovation, Jason moved the company to Oregon, WI where it would undergo several building and service expansions over the next 8 years.

That dedication to providing best-in-class outcomes for our clients didn’t spring up out of thin air. Thysse was started in 1941 by John Thysse and began as an offset printer in Madison, WI. Over the past 80 years, our clients’ needs have evolved to include a variety of services, all aimed at providing you answers to every brand problem. Under current leadership, third-generation owner and president, Jason Thysse, the company has adapted to become a more wholistic brand experience provider and shifted operations to Oregon, WI in 2012. In July of 2020, we moved into our new campus, a 95,000 sq ft facility aimed at bringing all services and production capabilities under one roof.

Today, Thysse is grounded in innovative thought, exceptional design and the physical production of ideas.
