We prioritized architectural and material finishes, which helped guide our selection of materials and ultimately enhanced the final result. Everything works together to create a seamless experience that purposefully elevates wonder and rewards curiosity to help visitors linger and explore...just....a......little.............longer.
Funding projects like this require strong community support, which is celebrated in a prominent “Wall of Gratitude” display. Thysse worked closely with OPL to develop this meaningful way to recognize those contributions and thank the members of the community that made the project possible. The integrated laminate and paint finishes establish a cohesive aesthetic with the overall design of the library, and the display also features push-through backlit dimensional letters, cut vinyl, and laser engraved donor names.
“People have been so excited! They love the library- they love the designs Thysse did for us. They come in and they’re so excited to see the new space and really just get immersed in it.”
– Jennifer Endres Way, Director, Oregon Public Library
The custom wallpaper and window vinyl designs incorporate inspirational messages, plants and wildlife native to the surrounding area, as well as scenes from nearby parks.
Custom glass and window graphics trade prominence and vary their semi-opaque hues as natural lighting transitions throughout the day. The dazzling effects connect the inner environment with that of the green spaces right outside the library.
This pathway through the wall intentionally encourages children to embrace the advantages of being small, and grab a book and turn the window portals into real launchpads to other worlds, adventures and discoveries.
